Lawyers representing two Rouyn-Noranda residents will file a class action suit Monday in Superior Court seeking compensation from Glencore, the multinational that operates the Horne Foundry in the town, as well as the Quebec government. In the suit, the plaintiffs contend that the foundry had “emitted into the environment a cocktail of toxic and carcinogenic contaminants that exceeded and still largely exceed the norms for air quality in effect in Quebec, thus violating their fundamental rights.”
